Arrrrgh! A good time was had at Detroit's Masonic Temple on Saturday night. Hundreds came out for our pirate themed double header. The action had fans on the edge of their planks!
Detroit Mens Roller Derby (DMRD) kicked off the fun when they faced off against the International Super friends. They are a coed team made of up skaters from all over the area and Canada. The score was close throughout the match-up. The game even saw some nail biting lead changes. In the end, DRD pulled out a well deserved victory in overtime. The final score 212 to 204. Muhammad Falli and B.C. were voted MVP's for DRD.
In their first home game of the season, the Motor City Disassembly Line (MCDL) took on the Lansing Derby Vixens. This was the Detroit debut for many of MCDL's skaters who are new to the league this season. There were plenty of hard hits to be had during the bout. Still Lansing's jammers and blockers were on point. They celebrated a 281 to 125 win over MCDL. Detroit's MVPs were Gigi Spitfire and Sierra DeAngelis.
