May the Force be with Detroit Roller Derby During April 22nd Bout!

May the force be with you and all the Detroit Roller Derby (DRD) skaters taking part in April 22nd Star Wars themed bout at Detroit's Masonic Temple. Fans are also encouraged to dust off their Darth Vader, Storm Trooper and Luke Skywalker costumes and join in on all the fun. Detroit Roller Derby's All-Star travel team will be split in half and they will battle each other! Who will win? The Rebel Alliance in red or the Empire in black. You'll have to come to the drill hall and see for yourself! You can also stock up on the team's brand new trading cards that will help raise money for traveling to away games this season.

DRD will be collecting items for the Downtown Youth Boxing Gym program during the April bout. It's an organization that through education, athletics and mentorship is working to empower Detroit's youth and make them productive members of society. The league has previously volunteered our time to the group. Now, we want to take it to the next level and help them get the necessary supplies to keep their effort going. We will gladly accept lined notebook paper, boys white collared shirts, socks, hats, gloves and thermal underwear for the kids.

Doors open for the single header game at 5:00pm. The action will start at 6:00pm. Tickets for the April 22nd bout are now available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2729939.

The Detroit Masonic Temple is located at 500 Temple Street. It is the largest building of its kind in the entire world with more than a thousand rooms. It has also served as a back drop for many Hollywood movies, television shows and has welcomed some of the hottest musical acts around.

See you when the Masonic is transformed into a galaxy far, far away!
