DETROIT, MI) The force was strong with the Detroit Roller Derby (DRD) and the hundreds of fans who turned out for the league's annual Star Wars game on Saturday. New this year, the skaters on DRD's All-Star Travel Team were divided in half and battled each other! It was the Rebel Alliance in red verse the Empire in black. It was close throughout most of the game. However, in the second half, the Empire pushed ahead and secured their galactic win. The final score 208 to 151.

Many thanks to the Great Lakes Garrison 501st Legion who looked amazing in their various Star Wars costumes. Countless pictures were snapped with them during the single header game creating some out of this world memories.

Also, a big shout out to those who generously donated to the Downtown Youth Boxing gym program on Saturday. The league was able to give them the necessary supplies to continue to empower area kids through education, mentorship, and athletics. The organization certainly appreciates the derby love!
