SKATER TRYOUTS - DDG tryouts will be held in June, 2013 (dates TBD). You must have attended one of our Derby! U: 101 sessions to qualify. Contact hr@detroitderbygirls.com to register.

It takes a large commitment to be a Detroit Derby Girl. We are a "by the skater, for the skater" organization. This means we do everything ourselves - from fundraising and advertising, to the production of events.

The average skater probably devotes a minimum of 12-15 hours a week to the league, including league practices, team practices, meetings, and events.

You will be responsible for buying your own equipment, purchasing a $60 yearly membership from the WFTDA (our insurance provider), and paying monthly dues (currently $25).

WHAT YOU NEED TO TRY-OUT:
Identification - a copy of your driver's license, State ID, or other legal ID

Pads - elbow pads, knee pads, wrist guards, and a helmet. You also need a mouth guard that can be purchased at any sporting goods store at a minimal price.

Skates - Quad skates only! No roller blades are allowed!

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREPARE:

Get in shape - Roller derby is a real, full contact sport. The healthier and stronger you are- the more likely you will be a successful athlete and the less likely you will get hurt!

Learn the rules - The rules of Women's Flat Track Roller Derby can be found at www.wftda.com/rules

Come to our events and Bouts - Check our Schedule for a list of current events.

Please contact hr@detroitderbygirls.com to reserve your tryout spot or for any other questions.
